| GOING AWAY PARTY (sniff) |
[03 Aug 2006|12:22pm] |
Mike and I will be hosting a going-away party at my place (Atwood Street) on Saturday, August 5th. Come early for sober fun (approx 8); come later for vodka/rum/tequila/household cleaning products-sodden fun (approx 9:30 - 10:00). While we probably won't be serving anything that could qualify as dinner, we will have weird snacks, including Mike's famed "meta-pizza."
We have a lot of hard liquor to get rid of (rum, tequila, Kahlua, scotch), but if you're a beer drinker, have a beverage of choice, or want to get rid of alcohol of your own, feel free to bring it along. If you want to bring anything else, we'd appreciate any games to play or extra fans(as I have no air conditioning.)
Please RSVP by replying to this post or giving me a call on my cell. Hope to see you there!

I'd like to have a party at my place before Mike and I move to Madison. Is there a particular day (weekday or weekend) people COULDN'T make it? I'm just trying to narrow things down a bit.

Hey all you computer-savvy people:
I'm writing a proposal for Neighborhood Housing Services (nhswpa.org) to add some computers to their new Homeownership Center. These computers would be for client use, so they would only need word processing and internet capability. To keep costs down, I'm trying to find places that sell refurbished computers, since they don't need top of the line models. Ben suggested Retrobox.com, which looks cool, but I'm trying to add a few more options to the proposal.
So, do any of you know of any companies that sell refurbished computers, preferably with warranties longer than 30 days?

In the event anyone will be awake, I'll be on the WPTS "Morning Show" tomorrow with fellow Urban Studies major Rachel Kohan talking about...urban studies stuff (presumably, casinos and such.) Our time slot is 7:45 - 8:45 AM (equals CRAZY EARLY). Hopefully they'll rebroadcast it sometime later in the day. In any case, you can find live web-casts at www.wpts.com.

 | You scored as Deep Space Nine (Star Trek). You have entered the dark side of the Star Trek universe. The paradise of Earth is far from you and you must survive despite having enemies on all fronts. But you wouldnt have it any other way because you thrive in conflict and will know what needs to be done to take care of those around you. Now if only the Founders would quit trying to take over the galaxy.

Fuck. I totally wanted to be Worf. So, does clicking on "very yes" for "closeted for years" automatically get you Mr. Sulu?

Does anyone want to go to the Chinese American Students' Association's Chinese New Year's Party this Friday at 7 p.m? It's free, there's free food, and we only have to stay as long as you want to.

Okay, for the final guest list, I have the following names: Erin, Juice, Scott, me, Mike, Blue, Jon Ebel, Sarah, Steve, Hatboy, Icca, Erik, Susan, possible Pink, possible Xavier. If your name is not on this list, and you want to come, please let me know ASAP so I make sure I have enough food.
Menu:
Samosas (peas and potato filled) Kheer (almond custard) Khulfi (Indian Ice Cream) Kashimir Cake rusks (dry sweet biscuits)
It's mostly dessert stuff, so eat some dinner beforehand. If you want to bring anything - soda/rum/liquor of choice would be good.
Now, for some stupid questions:
1. I make my own masala chai (tea leaves boiled in milk with sugar and cinnamon added). If you'd be interested in trying it, let me know, so I don't buy a lot more milk than I need.
2. I'm going to order in some nan from India Garden. What kind do people want (garlic, onion)?
3. If you want a specialty drink from India Garden (lassis, mango juice, rose iced tea) let me know so I can put it in with the nan order. (Sorry, but I'll need to be compensated for these.)

Okay - finally an Indian Party Post.
Date: Saturday, January 28th Time: Starting at around 8:30 or 9 pm. Place: My apartment - 250 York Way (off Atwood)
I would eat dinner beforehand, but there will be Indian Snacks (probably nan and samosas), drinks, and sweets. There will be music, Indian music videos, liquor, and if I can find some, henna. If you want to bring games/rum/ soda, that'd be cool.
Please let me know if you plan on coming so I know how much food to order.

Yeah, I'm dumb, because I meant to make that last post apartment-only. But both Laura and Sarah say it's okay, so it looks like the party will be happening approx. January 28. More details later.

Can I have a party at our place on Saturday the 28th? I think my room, the common room, the kitchen, and the upstairs bathroom should be enough space. You guys are certainly invited, but I wanted to check it with you in case you didn't want lots of people in the house.

True English Nerd You scored 84 erudition! |
| Not only do you know your subjects from your objects and your definite from your indefinite articles, but you've got quite a handle on the literature and the history of the language as well. Huzzah, and well done! The English snobs of Boston salute you. |

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 85% on erudition |

I propose that we have a sort of Indian themed party when we come back from Winter Break. You know, something to cut the cold a bit. My sister has a number of Indian music CDs and a DVD of Indian music videos that I can rip and bring back to Pittsburgh. Perhaps we could order in a little bit of food from India Garden. And what the hell, we can dress a little scantily and pretend it's summer in Calcutta, if we're so inclined.
